"A portrait of my children, once a week, every week in 2013"

Liberty: She hosted a funeral on the front porch for her imaginary friend Emma, today. Her remorse, felt by all.

Linen: Entirely absorbed in making friendship bracelets, she speaks of times spent with her dear friend Olivia, .

Lily: Snuck a giddy grin on our way to attend a friend's baptism. She bounced from the nursery to the service and back, torn between two loves: babies and celebration.

Harvest: Leading the family on our Sunday afternoon walk. Impossible to keep up with.

Henri: Building with the darling antique blocks I keep on display in the bookcase. All the children have worked with these. I'll never be able to give them up!

Pip: Once again my picky eater, last one at the table, using every excuse to keep a hotdog from entering his mouth. A hotdog! Every kids likes a dog! He's inherited this trait from me. I'm sure of it. (no worries, Crunchies, it's clean!)

Alright blogging gurus...I spent a ridiculous amount of time trying to get the vertical shots side by side. Help! I'm desperate! Is there a SIMPLE way? I use Picassa...

Also, I started my annual cleanse this week. Detoxing does a body gooooooooood!!!! My heart, soul, mind, and body are beginning to feel aligned. Oh, sweet Clarity, you are invaluable! Anyone care to share your favorite cleanse?? Can't wait to hear...

"A portrait of my children, once a week, every week in 2013"

Linen: "Find me in red". She lends herself to bright colors, due to the passion and romance in her heart.
Lily: "Nose in a book". Lily has given herself to reading the classics this rainy season. She's recently completed 'Alice in Wonderland', cover to cover! Now on to that in hand. The Secret Garden was a personal fave of mine at 10.
Liberty: The rain has brought this dreamer into her element. She plays the puddles as one who leaps from cloud to cloud. Her song is best heard in the rain.
Harvest: Caught this one in the few seconds he paused from front-porch-pirate-play. With his 7th birthday coming up, I want to put these last few weeks of being 6 in a box, wrapped and hidden for another rainy day.
Pip: Ah! This young lad can break me of any rainy day blues. What sunshine! The antlers are but the icing, yes?
Henri: The coat he's wearing was my brother's! He refuses the hat that matches. Shucks! I'm going to eat his earlobes for a midmorning snack!
The moon made a Cheshire appearance last Thursday night. Grinning as he peeked through the clouds, reassuring us of his exsistance. Until then, the rain had fallen for 10 days straight days over our valley. I found rest and peace as the house was quiet, listening to a thirsty ground marinate deeply with what earth would need for color, come spring.

"A portrait of my children, once a week, every week in 2013"

Linen Ruth: Stealing away to enjoy breakfast alone, at late morning.

Jonavon Philip, "Pip": Caught this contemplative stare, while sinking into bed sharing Papa's last few minutes of birthday sleep-in.

Sharing dreams. Sharing thoughts. Families share more than we'd ever like to think or dream of.  Sharing my children with you!!! I can honestly say, of all the accomplishments, all the experiences; I am more proud of them than anything. Hah! Who am I kidding?? They have me wrapped around their little fingers! Pip and I are working on reading this morning. 5 minutes ago, conversation goes...

Me: "Pip, you'll have to do what I'm saying, if you want to learn to read. I'm like your teacher."

Pip: "Mom. You are my servant."

- with a completely serious face, as if he's enlightening me. No, Pip, I've known this.

part deux 1/52

"A portrait of my children, once a week, every week in 2013"

Lily Moriah: Crisp evening walk, hand in hand. A wistful gaze at the landscape near Stephen's parents' property in North Alabama.

Surely, I will introduce you to all my wee lambs! Speaking of lambs...have you all met Lamb loves Fox?? She has a goal of 365 stills of her daughter this year, while a little Fox grows in her den. Her work is magical! Teach me your ways oh Great One!

This walk I took with Lily was another place of magic. Winter wrapped around us like a blanket. Lily has a sensitive heart & an articulate way of expressing it. She is a wise one of few words. Observing the way she thinks is like memorizing lyrics to my favorite song. Pure and bright. Layers upon layers of beauty. "I like my mole.", she says, when seeing this.

"A portrait of my children, once a week, every week, in 2013."

Harvest Life: I love these delicious freckles.
Liberty Pearl: She daudles from bath to jammies...
Henri Kinsman: peepeye mama...

I want to dedicate this blog to my dearest friend, Rebekka. Thank you sweet friend. No way, under the sun, could I have done this without your persistant, tender encouragement.

Thanks to Jodi, for her 52 portraits community. I love the fellowship!
